There are 3 major consumer credit reporting agencies in the United States - Equifax,
Experian and TransUnion. Their addresses, telephone numbers and
websites are listed below.
If you have been turned down for credit because of adverse information on a
credit report, you are entitled to a free copy of the credit report that
contains the adverse information. You can then get it corrected if it is
wrong. As a precaution, you should give the correction to all 3 agencies.
Each agency maintains independent files. This means that it is possible that
there will be differences among the agency files, and it is the reason that many
lenders get "3-Bureau Merged Reports" on applicants for credit.
